Sim card registration deadline will not be extended again

The Minister of Communication and Digitalization, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has finally announced that the Ministry will not extend the deadline for the nationwide SIM card registration exercise.
In a post sighted by TheGhanaTech.com, Mrs Ursula Owusu-Ekuful said that all unregistered SIM cards would be deactivated by the end of July this year, and advised mobile phone users yet to register their SIM cards to do so to meet the deadline.
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful said mobile phone subscribers and users in the country had been provided with enough time and opportunity to register their SIM cards saying, “there is no way we are going to extend the deadline again”.
She also explained that SIM card registration was essential because the exercise would greatly help the country in its efforts to prevent online and cybercrimes which had become more sophisticated.
In a speech sighted by TheGhanaTech, “The process will enhance the economic growth as more confidence is built in the telecommunications sector and people utilize secure devices to access the E-Government services and other private mobile-based digital solutions”, the Minister added.
How to register your SIM Card
Kindly follow the instruction below to complete the 1st stage of the sim card registration with a Ghana card.
- On your phone, dial *404#
- Select option 1 (Register)
- Enter your Ghana Card PIN
- Now Confirm Ghana Card PIN
- Enter your Surname on the Ghana Card
- Enter your First name(s) on the Ghana Card
- Enter Your Date of Birth in this format (DDMMYYYY)
- Enter your sex ( Male or Female)
- Now confirm your details
- Submits details provided after confirmation
Note: After you are done with stage 1, you will need to go to the nearest service provider office to complete the 2nd stage of the registration. Remember to go along with your Ghana card, Unique Code and Digital Address to complete the process.
