Ghana is going to have a massive re-registration of sim cards to end Momo fraud by the end of June this year. This information was announced by the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahumudu Bawumia.
In his statement at the 5th CEO Summit, he said this effort was planned by The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to slow down the rate of cybercrime and fraud in the country.
The network Communications and Digitalization will soon announce when the re-registration of sim cards. This process will begin maybe in June ending or early July of this year.
According to their discussion, every individual is entitled to use the National ID for the registration of the sim card. This will help cybersecurity and national security to track and monitor unusual acts.
“Anyone who refuses to take part in the re-registration of the sim card operation exercise will lose their Sim card by having an alert of an emergency network”, he stated.

The Minister of Communication Ursula Owusu will soon announce to the general public the details needed for the re-registration of the sim card.
