MTN postpones date for valid IDs for MoMo transactions

The widely-used telecommunication network in the country, MTN Ghana after announcing that all merchants should demand valid IDs for MTN MoMo transaction from 1st February this year has now extended its deadline.
The General Manager of MTN Mobile Money, Mr Eli Hini speaking on CitiBusiness News said the postponement of the deadline is to allow his outfit to provide its timeline to take action to its mobile merchants and customers.
“On the 1st April 2021, all MTN mobile transactions will be asked for a valid id as a requirement due to the fraud issues”, he told host of CitiBusiness News.

On 1st April 2021, MTN in a communique sighted by TheGhanaTech.com said IDs including Ghana Card, Driving License, Passport, Voters ID, SSNIT ID, NHIS cards will be required for transactions.
