How to register for MTN eSIM in Ghana

MTN Ghana has introduced eSIM also known as embedded or Electronic SIM which is a digital version of a SIM card. It’s a chip fused into a mobile phone, wrist band or tablet device at the point of manufacture to help connect to your network provider.
eSIM performs the same functionality as a traditional SIM card, however, unlike a physical SIM card it is activated by installing the “eSIM profile” on an eSIM enabled device.
In a post sighted by TheGhanaTech.com, the eSIM is available to both Pay- As -You -Go (Prepaid) and Postpaid individual and corporate subscribers. Customers with already registered numbers with MTN will have their numbers upgraded to eSIM.
New subscribers will go through the normal registration process using the Ghana Card and have their biometric data captured. All new eSIM activations come with a free 10GB one-off non-expiry data bundle upon successful activation.
The introduction of eSIM is in line with MTN’s vision ‘to lead the delivery of a bold, new digital world to its customers’ and fulfill its Ambition 2025 objectives. The eSIM will allow customers to access multiple devices with eSIM compatibility and enhance customer experience.
In 2020, MTN Nigeria was testing its eSIM product in its market. Fast forward to 2022 and Ghana customers can now access that same product.
It offers subscriptions to millions of new devices without the existing SIM card logistics. It is also to enhance the customer experience with immediate connectivity for their new device.”
