Do you know that your TIN is now connected to your Ghana Card? The Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is a unique identification number issued to taxpayers and potential taxpayers. Getting TIN is free and this can be done at any Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Office.
On the 1st of April 2021, GRA announced that all Ghana card personal identification numbers will replace TIN. The card is a national identity card that is issued by the National Identification Authority (NIA) to Ghana citizens, as well as foreign nationals legally / permanently residing in Ghana.

As a result of this linking, for individuals, your Ghana Card is PIN is your TIN. This means that your identification number has now been connected to your TIN whereby you can use your identification number for every document that will require a TIN. You can now register for an identification number in person at a designated GRA office or at an NIA registration center.
The replacement of the existing TIN with the Ghana Card PIN is in line with the Government’s policy to use one unique identifier for all government transactions for which identification of an individual is required.
Note: Companies, Corporations, and other Legal Persons are still required to use their existing TIN for all their tax-related transactions.
How to verify your TIN / Ghana Card
In this tutorial, we are now going to show you how you can verify your TIN and Ghana Card with some few steps.
- Visit the Ghana Revenue Authority official website
- Move your cursor to Online Tools -> Online Services
- Click on verify TIN
- Enter your TIN or your card ID number for verification. (E.g P0012345678 or GHA-123456789-1 )
- Click on the verify button and wait for your verification Status
What of those of us who don’t have the Ghana card?
You can go to any nearest GRA branch and request for Ghana Card.
